About Us

Our History

For several years a small group of believers prayed for an orthodox Lutheran congregation in the Virginia peninsula area.

On September 29, 1996, we conducted our first worship service and the members signed a charter to initiate New Hope Lutheran Church. The name New Hope is representative of the new hope of the charter members for the future of all Lutherans who are experiencing the liberalism of their church.

When Jesus left us to ascend into heaven, He established One Church on Earth, with his disciples being the first Pastors. Today, this is still the only Church which matters - the Church of those who believe in Jesus Christ.

Our mission is to present the Word of God in as many ways as possible. By doing so we believe, as it says in Isaiah, that the Word will not return empty. It will achieve the purpose for which God intends. We are very blessed to have Pastor Binder as our shepherd in the study of the Word.
